Picked up X5 xdrive 3.0d m sport on Saturday.

Black Sapphire with Camel interior and Bamboo trim, 20" v spokes, media pack, electric tailgate, blinds, heated seats, xenons, usb, voice control.
We had the dealer fit the all gloss black kidney grill and it looks fantastic and really goes with the shodowline window surrounds. we had an 2006 e53 3.0d sport and compared to that the e70 feels very light.
Yesterday we travelled at 55mph - 60mph on A roads and managed 34 mpg but this soon dipped to 30mpg when the speed went up. My old e53 would only manage 26mpg in similar driving conditions.
The Camel interior is perfect as its the only light coloured interior that retains black carpets, ideal when lugging prams in and out of the boot although we have a load liner to make sure.
The seats feel bigger and more comfortable but it does not feel that much larger than the e53 although the boot seems a little longer. The navigation and new idrive is great and relatively easy to use although im not convinced about the voice control just yet as it seems to get confused when using the basic commands. The ride is quite firm but absorbs the bumps really well although I suspect putting non RFT on would make the ride better.
Overal after 2 days with the car we are really enjoying it and cant wait for our trip to Austria in Feb to come around so we can test it on some snow.
I will try and get some pics posted up next weekend.

Congrats. Good luck and looking forward to the pics.

Good write up. I like the idea of people comparing their gas..I mean fuel mileage to their previous ride with similar conditions.

Cant wait to drive it in Austria. Im ordering some 214 y spokes and have some 20" toyo snow tyres to put on. The space saver has been ordered too so I should be kitted up for winter pretty soon. Its just a shame we dont get that much snow here in the UK. Would love to have some of the winters you get in the USA and Cananda.
The car is supposed to be my wifes but I have to say its a joy to drive and if it wasnt for the fact that she needs it for our little lad I would be tempted to take it in the mornings.

It amazes me that the car has now had a full day with my wife and the fuel consumption has dropped to 24 MPG and discarded parking tickets have appeared on the dash.

I Hope to pick up my xDrive 3.0D M Sport this weekend.

I opted for the Saddle Brown interior (leather seats and black carpets) for the same reason as you. However, the dealerships in the UK don't seem to encourage you to go for any other colour other then Black, or Sand Beige Nevada.

Did you also take on the 7 day free insurance BMW offer ?

If you take policy out with BMW they also expect you to install a tracker.

I dont think she knows how to open the glove compartment yet
I have had to give her a pep talk about not trying to pull down or push up the auto tail gate.

I agree, camel was not even on their radar. I took out the free insurance so that they could tax it with the minmum of fuss.
The bizzarre thing was that when we changed over our policy with direct line from our 2006 3.0d sport x5 to our new X5 we got a £127 refund. Although this is great it did make me think that the new one is a lot cheaper to make and question the build quality.
What exterior colour did you go for?
