If you go to the BMW UK site and build your own, it gives a pretty good high-def picture, and modifies it when you add or take-away the roof rail mod.

Will you ever use them is the best answer... I put my bike on racks and also have a Thule Roof box.. so I am glad I have them...and as mentioned elsewhere it makes cleaning a bit easier...

I would put them on in AwesomeM3s style. It might lower resale if u dont have them, i know alot of ppl who wouldnt buy a car just because of that..
plus, it looks funny without IMO

I also wanted to be able to transport bikes, but instead of getting a roof rack, I got the BMW rear bike rack for the X5/X6. The rack mounts directly in the tow holes in the rear bumper. Here's my Vermillion Red 2010 X5d with no roof rails and with the rear bike back . . .
