Questions after First 1000 miles - 2010 X5d

I have a couple of questions after the first 1000 miles or so.

1. How do I know if the BMW Assist is working properly? The one thing I did try was sending a Google map to the vehicle - which failed to work. Could the dealer have messed this up, if so what do they need to do to correct this?

2. What features of BMW Assist should I see as activated without paying anything more (i.e. comes with the BMW Assist that I got with the package)?

3.I have read about the trunk lift assist that is missing on the 2010 - would installing the part void the warranty?

4.I am clearly seeing difficulty when getting going on a cold morning - the diesel I assume. Today was a real tester here - Cold! Are others experiencing this and is it ok to assume it is normal?

Did you do your introduction call with BMW assist?

I own an 09 35d and we have been through a week of -20c Canadian cold weather - no problems at all with my diesel starting or otherwise.

I also live in MO, and I don't know what you mean about getting going. I'm not having any problems starting mine. As for the BMW assist, push the SOS button and you will have to give them a password and email address. No, it won't void your warranty to install the trunk lift. I don't even have a spare. My fuel filter heater was just replaced. If you're having problems starting your car, take it to the dealer. Tomorrow morning is going to be worse than this morning.

Ok - thanks for the input
It looks like I did not do the introduction call - is that as simple as hitting the SOS button and getting someone on the line?

Yes Craig, tomorrow will be worse - It was cold this morning but certainly not out of line for this time of the year. The engine went through a period of slow response - nearly like it was in neutral for a brief moment then it would engage and then it would delay again and so on. Finally corrected itself after a short time, say 5 minutes.

Yes, just push the SOS button and they will answer. Ask them for your location to see if that's working as well when you have them on the line.
I would take your car to the dealer. Mine doesn't run like that. It doesn't hurt to have them take a look at it. You don't want to be stranded tomorrow.

We've had temps of 10 above to -10F here in Denver and the X5d is doing great.

Yep, I agree, something doesn't sound right with his vehicle. My fuel mileage goes way down when it gets this cold. It's going down to 7 tonight. At least -10- -15 wind chill. It's 15 here now and mine runs fine.
