Well, my wife took the 35d in this AM. After a chat with our SA about the OBD II codes etc., he said they would do the diagnostics while she waited consuming lattes & pastries
![]() My wife called back pretty quickly and said they were in the process of replacing the ... wait for it..... Air Temp Sensor 13-62-7-812-741. Imagine that. ![]() Amazingly, our dealer actually had the part 'in house', BUT... only because they had ordered one for another 35d owner who hadn't scheduled to come back in to have it replaced yet*. My wife just called. The repairs are completed. So this CAN be a 2 hour 'while you wait' repair IF your dealer has the correct part in stock. I'll post more details when she gets back with the 35d and the paper work. Funf Dreisig * Our SA says he sourced the part for the other 35d in 2-3 days and notified them when it came in a couple of days ago. So because of how busy the shop is, he can get another one, before he can schedule their repair. Last edited by FunfDreisig; 12-16-2009 at 01:38 PM. |

I promised more details but there really aren't many. The paper work is very droll.
" CUSTOMER STATES CHECK ENG LIGHT ON 4C52 CHARGE AIR TEMP SENSOR PLAUSIBILITY STORED IN DME. FAILURE OF CHARGE AIR TEMP. SENSOR. INTERROGATED FAULT MEMORY. TESTED CHARGE AIR TEMP. SENSOR. REPLACED CHARGE AIR TEMP SENSOR, CLEARD FAULT. 1 13-62-7-812-741 TEMPERATURE SENSOR WARRANTY $0" The term "CHARGE AIR TEMP. SENSOR" is curious wording. I'm guessing it is short hand for "Turbo Charger Inter-cooler Air Temp Sensor" but I could be very wrong. The failed part 13-62-7-812-741 costs roughly $25 retail. Because our dealer happened to have this part 'on hand', this repair only took roughly 2 hours So IMO EVERY dealer in the US should have at least one of these parts in stock.Funf Dreisig Edit: I forgot to add that our SA said we could not have the old part if it was covered under warranty, unless we were willing to pay for it He implied (but did not explictly say) that the dealers return the warranty parts for reimbursement. Does that sound right ?
