why are you guys buying this?

For the crappy service BMW covers it is very expensive. I suppose if you think 300-400 is reasonable for an oil service....

Go to the bimmerfest forum, ask a dealer...some will do deals

But isnt everything from your brakes to your wipers to your spark plugs and transmission flush (all maintenance items) are covered by this ext maint plan?

Maintenance once a year.. extended to 2 years... what are the major important things they need to do on year 5 and 6? Worth $1k each year? If nothing, I'd stick with a regular synthetic oil change and filter and call it a day.

Frankly I'm more worried about the warranty.

You really need to understand what BMW really does for "maintenance". It is hardly anything, but dressed up in "Inspection this" and "Inspection that"...

BMW ACTUALLY HAS NO TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE AS MAINTENANCE!!!!!

Spark plugs are easily done for a few hundred- when does BMW have them down to be checked for your car?

The point is the 'published, BMW recommended maintenance is so 'lite' that you are essentially paying for a few oil changes, a filter or two, and a boat load of BS 'inspections' that don't mean a thing.

Of course the dealers just blatantly over-inflate the costs for all this stuff to scare you into buying a plan- and if you don't, heck they are fine with bending over the victims that come back to BMW after warranty is done.

Buy it if you have no bandwidth for 'car stuff', you really don't want to think about what really needs to be done, and you are a 'just go to the dealer and do what they say' kind of person....

But your wiper blades may wind up costing you $500 each!

A

Don't know why you guys are paying so much and are too lazy to do a simple search.
