Unfortunately our is a euro-spec 320i 2010 LCI, but should have the same LED license plate lights as the US version. Will take pics and let you know how it goes!

Is there any possible reason, other that pure looks and vanity (ie "I have bright white plate lights, look at me") that you'd WANT to emphasize your registration/tag plates?!?!??

I mean isn't it better to simply have NOT plate lights? Or as dim as possible?

This seeming obsession with 'whiter and brighter' seems to over-ride any concept of form and function. Plate lights have absolutely nothing to do with any aspect of driving. It is a regulatory requirement and all brighter lights do is make it easier for law enforcement.

If I were to run across an overly bright and white plate light staring me in the face, I'd feel nothing but pity and annoyance.

Honestly yours,

A

In short, no... not other than vanity. I drive 2 cars, one with regular halogen headlamps and the E70 with the HID low beams. Most of the time, unless it's REALLY dark, the road is illuminated the same to me, but would I want an E70 with typical yellow halogens? It is definitely nicer looking with the HIDs. The rear lights are definitely nicer looking if it isn't a dim yellow halogen-esque color. You may think of it as just a look-at-me feature, but it actually feels good to have upgraded/modded things on the vehicle... makes it unique which is a big reason to mod. And this with little effort.

Another useless post by ard.

Who cares if there is another reason or if it is just for vanity. No one asked for an opinion or needs your criticism or judgement, just let these folks do whatever they want and let's stay on topic.

OP, let us know know if the swap works. I won't be doing this if it does work as I would prefer to go icognito, but I'm curious to see if it will work.

Go for it.

It's funny, there are some people one looks forward to annoying.

I submit that sometimes it is useful for people to know what others think of their mods- even if they don't ask.

They are not the same size. I tried swapping my 2008 M3 lights to the 2011 X5 and they don't fit.

What you're really saying is you have a very common E70 and wish to bring others down because you simply don't care about looks and neither should others.

You actually say a lot with your posts without actually saying it, but I guess you knew that.

Has to be a 2010 and newer 3 series. They are the ones with the new LED module on the license plates. 2008 would not fit.
