Shipping quotes I received from the bay area to the Oregon border were $800 and not worth the savings you get in California.
To be accurate, part of this is true: A California dealer must collect CA tax if you drive off the lot. (But not a private party sale). If they truck it out of CA, they should not collect tax.

(If you can get a trucking company to 'truck' it around the block to you, all the better. Just someone with a bill of lading and a truck. Wink)

But Washington SHOULD give you 'credit' for the CA tax you pay. You will not get a refund if CA is higher, but you should not get double dipped.

Typically not worth it with new commodity items.

We are planning to keep this car for 8 -10 years until our boys grow up, can you share the issues you have experienced? is it DIY fix possible? I understand the first 4 yrs should be covered by warranty, but those issues could show up after it expires.

I had 7 yrs old passat, I did all maintanance and fix issues by myself, the main reason still keeping it is because I am quite enjoying doing it. It's like a big toy for me.

Dealer just friendly sorry me by tax rate in Seattle: it's 9.8%.
Ok, I have to remind myself we don't have state tax.

This maybe so but when I was last checking about a year ago when I bought my M I checked with the Washington state DMV and they stated they would not credit California sales tax. Not sure if they closed the loophole but makes sense from the Washington state perspective.

Kuni in Portland is one of the top centers according to BMW, and I've read some other local forums that say they have been good to deal with.

Also, the BMW dealer in Yakima (Hahn) is supposed to have really good prices. I have not bought nor dealt with either.

BMW Bellevue: Bought 335i there, and had service done. No bad experiences.
BMW Seattle: Had X5 hitch installed and service done there. No bad experiences.
BMW Fife: Bought the X5D there in August 2010. Got a good price, no bad experiences.

I looked for three months contacting dealers in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Could not get anyone to beat the Costco price from Bellevue. Ordered 2011 X5d end of December.

What's the Costco price from Bellevue? I am waiting the clarification of the 2012 diesel now, will pull the trigger very soon.

That seems like a below invoice price. Is it? Is that by being a costco employee or just a member?
