Rotten smell coming from vehicle.

Fellow Enthusiasts:

Previously owned 07 4.8i. We've had it for about 8 months and ever since, I've noticed a strange rotten odor coming from the side of the vehicle, especially after it has been ridden for a while.

It especially gets annoying when I have to roll down my windows and show my credentials as I'm passing through the Military Gate. My thoughts that the Gate Guards are thinking my Family and I have poor hygiene. I smell it, and I'm sure they do too.

Any ideas / solutions come to mind?

Thanks in advance.

I had a windsheild wiper fluid leak which was a known issue that leaked into the front of the cabin and there was a leak issue in the inner taillights which was known as well. I know this does not seem to fit your desc but want to offer any info I can being an 07 4.8i owner as well.

You may want to check under the impact sheilding under the vehicle as well. Many things can get under there and think it is OK to sleep then when you go driving in the morning may be fried. You could be recooking a dead thing over and over.

Yeah, I'd have a look for dead animals. I had a rotting smell in a Mini I used to have and it turned out to be a cooked mouse stuck to the air conditioning radiator. Not nice.

Check the catalytic converter. Sometimes a bad cat will give off a "rotten egg" smell.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Is the smell on the interior of the car? Does it smell like a gym bag full of sweaty socks or something like that? If so then you probably have a water leak causing under the carpet to mold.
