BMW Ipod Touch Snap In Adapter???

Hello, I've been looking for an iPhone 4 snap in adapter for my 2012 X5 that has the smartphone integration kit and I came by a iPod Touch Snap In adapter on several websites including several dealers selling parts online. I was not aware these existed, I thought only iPhone adapters were sold.

This adapter would be of more interest to me since I will probably upgrade to the iPhone 5 once it comes out but i can certainly keep my iPod touch for a long period of time making this adapter a more logical choice.

I have not been able to find any information regarding with which generations of iPod touch it will work with or if the album artwork will be displayed on the screen using this adapter. Has anyone bought this or is familiar on how it works vs the iPhone 4 adapter?

The part number is 84212162534

I don't know the answer to your question! But I'm trying to find information about these adapters also!

I have an IP4 and 3GS. It seems like the adapters are so specific, I would need to buy two. my BMW Apps doesn't seem to work without the adapters.

Annoying...

Snap In Adapter for iPhone 4 and 3GS

I believe we need to use the following Snap In Adapter: P/N: 84212218390/1, if you have the iPhone 4/3GS. There are two snap in adapters, a "dumb" and a "smart" Snap In. The "smart" (my wording) version allows streaming of video etc, and is required for BMW Apps. I'm trying to find a source for less than the somewhat outrageous $250+. Also, I wonder if the iPhone 5 will require a different one, given that it is rumored to be somewhat thinner and narrower.

Description copied below from BMWUSA website if you use this link: ShopBMWUSA.com: BMW Apple iPhone Media / BMW Apps Version Snap In Adapters

BMW Apple iPhone Media / BMW Apps Version Snap In Adapters

This adapter is for vehicles equipped with the Smart Phone Integration or BMW Apps factory options. For vehicles with Smart Phone Integration, this adapter not only charges the phone, but allows access to any music or MP3 files stored on the phone. In addition, it provides a connection to the roof mounted telephone antenna on your car for improved cellular reception. For vehicles with BMW Apps, this adapter is required to fully utilize the option. In addition to the great features noted for Smart Phone integration, it allows you to use the “PlugIn” as well as the “Video Playback” features. To ensure a phone is supported and compatible with the vehicle, refer to the list of tested phones available at BMW North America

Only applicable to vehicles produced after 9/2010 and equipped with either Smart Phone Integration (option code 6NF) or BMW Apps (option code 6NR). BMW Apps is compatible only with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

Any luck on finding an adapter under $250 and/or predicting if the iP5 will fit BMW's iP4 adapter?

No luck here. iPhone 5 is rumored to be thinner and narrower, but not longer. Im thinkong that maybe it would fit the ip4 adapter with a spacer on the bottom. This is just a guess. Perhaps I can convince my wife to settle for the rumored iPhone 4S. So we can both use the iPhone 4 adapter.

Since we now know the iPhone 4S will work in BMW's iPhone 4 media adapter, is there a way to find out if AT&T will release the email function (email is read aloud). Local BMW sales said a BMW rep claimed such for on a horizon, but how does one get more reliable information?

Found it at ECS for $212 + shipping. Ordering today, since we now know that there is no iPhone 5 in the near future. I'm assuming that the iPhone 4S that my wife will get will fit the same adapter as the iPhone 4 I currently have.

I'm ordering P/N 84212218390
