Radar Detector Mount

I just saw the advertisement on this site for the Blendmount and got excited, as I am very close to getting my 2012 X5d, any day now, and will want to mount my detector right away. However, when I visited their web site, they state that they are not compatible with BMW. I appreciate that the site is getting ad revenue, but why would they advertise on a BMW specific site?

I have always just used the suction cup mount on my other and past cars without issue and may end up doing the same with this one, but this mount looked interesting.

Anyway, is there anything similar available to mount a Valentine One radar detector in our cars?

Thanks!
Andy

I don't know about mounting a V1 as I run mine with a RL, but hope you are up on the latest V1 upgrade to 3.892 that sounds promising.

@andy727

I don't like the look of that mount at all -- it's below the mirror. I prefer the location that I have (and it works well). It's above and left side of the mirror. And I have the remote at the left edge of the dashboard.

I too have mine at the very top of the windshield, left of mirror, pretty much just above my line of sight. I do like that mount though, but I also have to agree with the OP as to why this product is even advertised on a BMW dedicated sight? I drive a Ford too, but really could care less about my detector in that car. Not sure I understand the logic, other than advertising dollars, I suppose?

be aware that many ads are placed by Google analytics and they have no idea what works with what car....you profile the product and they figure out the best eyes to put it in front of...

I prefer the high mount as high as possible and to the right of the mirror so it minimizes the impact on my visual crosssection

Thanks for the replies, I will try mounting it to the upper left of the mirror. It looks like it won't interfere with the visor? In my last car it I couldn't get the visor to flip down with it there.

GPSnV1, the V1 site says I have the best performer, but it looks like they are adding new features, traffic monitor and Extended Serial Protocol 2 way communication for future device features. Seems like a minor upgrade, maybe not worth the $79 upgrade fee?

After sending in my 3.818 for a tune up, I changed to a $140 upgrade to 3.891 and now a free upgrade to 3.892 (arrives tomorrow).

I only had the 3.891 for about a month, but the range was so much better that I considered selling my Redline which I will at least keep as a backup. Also, the 'falsing' was noticeable less even when using A mode in the city.

I will need TSR during two long trips each year, but it is the ESP that holds the greatest promise. There are several threads on this at Valentine One and Valentine One The keywords are ESP, SAVVY, "cooked up" and "3.892".

I am a simple user but hope the ESP will give us an alternative to Radaractive | Speed Trap Information Network that is a problem with the BMW warranty. The discussion at the moment covers the notion of also adding GPS into the equation and beyond.

Part of my concern was that some would see the spike in V1s available on Ebay and not realize how much an upgrade costs now with this major move by V1.

I was hoping that ESP had something to do with GPS. I don't think TSR is being used near me, but I may be doing a road trip to NC next month. I have never looked at the V1 forums, thanks for the tip. I'll go take a look.
