I have an after market 215 in Ferric Grey for the last 3 years on my X5. Just love it...

The only debate now is do I get 10.5 inch rims all around and not do 9.5 in front and 10.5 in back. I am going with a 275/40/20 Michelin Apline snow tire all around.

I know the stock rim is 10 in the front so this would be wider. But it's only .5 inches wider. The upside is I'll be able to rotate all 4 tires and rims all around if they are the same versus in a staggard setup, I'm stuck unless I have the tire taken off the rim to rotate it. The rear will also only tuck .5 inches in more than stock which is 11" wide. I know it might actually look like more too since it'll be a 275 tire versus 315.

Thoughts on widths?

I was thinking the same with 9.5 front rim all around with 275. It might looks odd?

I was actually considering 10.5 rear rim all around. That way the rear is only .5 back from stock width and the front is .5 wider. So the front will stick out a bit more than normal and the rear will tuck in a bit more. Not exactly sure how much though because of the offsets.

Thanks for the link! I'm seriously considering the 10.5 215 all around now. I know it's .5 wider than OEM up front and will look a bit more stretched, but not out of spec or terrible. Then it'll fill up the rear a bit more too and I can rotate all 4 instead of dedicated front and back.

Is running a 10.5 rim with 40 offset and a 275/40/20 tire going to be bad for the x5 or hurt looks up front? That wat I can rotate the tires front and back in the winter. That is opposed to getting the 9.5 rim with a 45 offset up front for the set which would limit my ability to rotate.

Consider 315's all around. The 275 sidewall on 10.5" during heavy turning is pushing it, (imho).

I will, but only for a milisecond. Not only would that be incredibly expensive, but these are snow tires (I may not have mentioned) and a 315 tire is way too wide for snow which is why I'm not swapping out my summer tires for all seasons.
