$5 via PayPal to whoever finds me the PN for the center dash speaker cover

Hi guys,

I need to find the center channel dashboard speaker grille cover on the X5s with premium audio.

I had an '11 X5 35d with premium audio and the center channel cover was a hard, matte speaker grille.

I traded it for a '12 X5 35d due to the other one essentially being a lemon but didn't get premium audio this time and the speaker grille is now a soft (collapses when you poke the center), mushy plastic that reflects light at an angle (really annoying).

I looked at RealOEM ( RealOEM.com * BMW E70N X5 35dX Trim panel dashboard ) and the PN is NOT 51457161796. The parts dept at the dealer got the same thing on their computer and took out the part to show me. It's the same crap piece. Part was not incorrect as the PN was molded underneath.

$5 via PayPal for the first person to get me the correct PN number!

TL;DR: If you have premium audio and your center channel speaker cover doesn't collapse when you poke the center, pull it up and type the PN molded on the underside corner and you get $5 via PayPal lol

Those are the only part numbers I'm showing for the E70 LCI center speaker cover. Below is a photo of 51457161796 and HERE is a link to 51456972206

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, that PN is the one that comes with the stock audio even though RealOEM and dealer systems list it as the one that come with HiFi Professional (is that even premium audio?).

To make sure, a couple of weeks ago, I bought it to confirm (even though the one that came with my car had this PN molded under it). It was the same crappy part. I wish I had bought the premium audio package this time, just so I don't have to deal with looking at it

It is spongy and has this UGLY reflective property when driving in the day time. You can kinda see it in the picture. My '11 that had the premium audio grille's was matte (sort of dark grayish), hard, had wider threads on the grille, and did not collapse when poking.

At this point, I think the only way to find that PN is to have someone with premium audio pull up on their grille and post the PN molded underneath.

FYI: I think BMW has started using this part exclusively now, as I just came back from a dealer with a 2012 produced last month that has premium audio. It has this grille too. I went to the used car lot and the X5 with the premium audio had a different grille. They wouldn't let me take it apart to find the PN though, told me to go to the parts department

I just pulled mine off to look for you.
It's definitely the hard type with no give at all and I've never seen a reflection but the part number is 51456972206

Best two ways to tell would be by seeing if the rear doors have two speakers by the leather insert (one big one and a little tweeter right next to it) and iDrive if it has EQ settings, although that might be with Logic7 when the X5 had it (not sure how that was optioned on the older models)

I've never seen EQ settings in the iDrive, and I'm sure I would have, but I do have the 2 speakers in the rear door.

Here's some pics.
Sorry for the big size, stupid iPhone 4s and HOLY SMOKES look at that dirt!
It really doesn't look that bad from a foot or two away, trust me....
