Talking Picked up my X5d this weekend from Jon Shafer at Santa Barbara BMW

Thanks to the Xoutposters who answered a couple of questions for me last month. My production slot happened about 7 days after I placed my order so through some luck we went down and picked up our new loaded X5d (metallic black on tan with alum trim) from Jon Shafer at BMW of Santa Barbara. We got a smoking deal - $500 over invoice and timed it right to get the $2,500 eco credit and $1,730 nav credit and we'll earn $1,000 on the BMW CCA rebate.

Here's a couple of photos Jon took for us before we went down to see it.

I drive a diesel truck on the street to tow a race trailer and my wife can hear me coming down the street when I'm coming home. I can barely hear her when she pulls in the driveway in the X5. Our friends were shocked yesterday at a super bowl party how quiet it was for a diesel... I'm a big believer in the technology and am stoked to have a BMW tow vehicle. I'm thinking about getting the license plate "tugboat" for it! Or "tugbmmr?" LOL, we'll see.

Depending on your local dealer situation, I would heartily recommend dealing with Jon. It's rare to find a sales guy who actually loves the cars and the marque and it made working with him, enthusiast-to-enthusiast, a real treat. He even picked us up at the airport

Very excited to figure out all of the great technology... and then find a set of black wheels to put on it.

Very Nice

If your looking to sell the wheels that are currently on the car in the pic give me a shout. I am looking to buy some 19's (I assume those are 19's with the 335 style wheels). Right now I have the stock 18's.

Let me know and thanks

Will do... glad to see there is some demand for them!

@lemansx5 - I thought the bow was a tad over the top but my wife said it made her feel like she was in a car commercial.

That looks sweet. Question: How did you manage to get the aluminum trim? I have a '12 35d as well and that wasn't an option, at least according to the salesperson.....

Custom order... I used the option availability list that Jon posted (maybe on bimmerfest.com?) which had a list of every single option, both those in packages and standalone. There were a few extra trim levels. That's also how people are getting the red and blue colors (after the car is locked in for production, it becomes available).

It's like ordering at In 'n Out and asking for a 3x3 protein style: it exists if you know about it.
