What did you do with the trim you took out? My wife scratched the piece on the left hand door, and I need to replace it. Any chance you would want to sell it?

Looks good, how hard was it to remove the trim runs along each side of the shifter?

Not that difficult to do centre, glove box was the hardest to do...

to change the centre parts you need to prise off the Idrive knob, then the black trim around gear lever , then the trim around the ash tray and the trim above the rear air vent, you will then see three torx screws (per side). Remove these,
the side trims are now just held with clips so need to prise them off.

Hi Palmer, yes, I concur!
I am changing my interior trim as well - taking the opposite route, from bamboo to brushed aluminum...
Could you share how you managed to replace the glovebox trim piece?
Any hint would be appreciated!

Thanks
Kai

Hi
You need to remove air vent next to glove box and the I drive screen with trim.
Then you can see all the screws holding in the glovebox, there are some inside as well, once you have done this you will need to pull the whole unit out.

Then push the pin out of the hinge for the lower trim piece, then swap over the parts and replace the whole lot.

Holy moly, what are those German engineers thinking?!
Thanks a lot for your input, I'll give it a shot.

Bamboo is the nicest BMW trim available by far, Looks great! Much better than the aluminium trim. When I ordered my X, I knew That I had to have the Bamboo when I saw it on a display model. Makes it look like a proper luxury car IMO. I also want to get the ///M Bamboo shifter, but I can't find one...
