[Solved] 2008 X5 Engine Air Filter Location?

Want to replace both engine and cabin filters on the X5 4.8i 2008.

I found both filters through Mann in stock on Amazon, but before I ordered I wanted to make sure there are some instructions online.

For the cabin air filter, Mann has the instructions on their website.

https://www.mann-hummel.com/mf_prodk...u/HBy0HfrH.pdf

What about for engine air filter? Anyone do a write up or something?

Also, I have 4 zone control, do I need anything except C 3090 and CU 2941-2?
Thanks!

10 min operation. Pop hood, remove shroud over top of engine that has the bmw Logo on it (held on by hidden clips, it just pops off). You will see the two air ducts from the front grill area leading to the air box at the back near firewall. Remove the clips (there are some at the back as well). pop off cover and you will see the filters. remove and replace. put back together in opposite order. that is it. Good luck.

Thanks, and just in case someone else needs help on this in the future:

1. Engine Air Filters (2)

-Look at post above. You need two filters (sold separately)
-Mann C 3090 and C 3090/1

2. Cabin Air Filters (2)

- These are the instructions from Mann.
-Mann CU 2941-2
-(one box comes with both filters)

3. Cabin Microfilter (1) if you have 4 zone (rear) control

-This is not sold by Mann afaik and must be bought from BMW
-BMW part number 64316945596

So in total, there are either four or five individual filters to be replaced on the E70, depending if you have rear zone control or not. Hope this helps!
