Doms X5 48is is on a distinguished road
I am ordering a 2013 X5 50i M-Sport. Some questions

Hey guys. I finally sold my old 4.6is through a private sale and got 15K for it. I am going to use that money to order this custom build:

2013 X5 50i M-Sport
Black Sapphire
Black Nevada Leather Interior
Dark Burl Walnut
M-Sport Package 4700.00
20" 333M Wheel Upgrade 950.00
Premium Audio Package 950.00
Bmw Apps 250.00
Destination Handling 895.00
Total MSRP As Built 71,945.00

1.) Question 1. Is there anything else you guys recommend option wise that if you had to do it once do it right?

2.) I am very interested in the M Performance Package or the Dinan Stage 2 Reprogram. Is it worth the 1600 dollars for the M Performance Pack for only 40hp gain from stock?

3.) Can I order the Dinan Stage 2 direct in my initial build from BMW or do I have to order the car, take delivery, than install the dinan stage 2 a few weeks later?

4.) What is the horsepower increase with the Dinan Stage 2 tune?

Thanks in advance guys!

Dom

PS: here are some exact pictures of the build:

Never leave out the multi contour seats.

Comfort access.

Spare tire if that is important to you, it is cheaper up front.

I wouldn't be without the cold weather package. Your climate may be different.

Adaptive drive gets a lot of good reviews?

What are you going to use for a winter setup? Sometimes cheaper to see what the dealer will add in as part of the deal, if they have some wheels that were take-offs.

I just took delivery of the same X5 as you are contemplating.

Agree with JCL, comfort seats are a must, as is cold weather if climate applicable. Also agree on comfort access, but you could live without it. If you are going to get comfort access, just get the premium package - you'll appreciate the backup camera.

I have Adaptive Drive and am absolutely sold on it. I also have M Performance. It's not a lot of money - I thought 'why not? She moves right along and sounds great - better than my M.

Dinan is 96hp and is $3k. I understand there is only a stage 1 available.

In my opinion, and coming from an X5M, I don't think you could tell the difference between 444hp and 496hp. I can barely tell the difference (acceleration) between my current 50i MPerf and my old ///M.

Heres what i would do based on 12 different tes drives i took.
If u get the Adaptive drive no need for the 20's unless u like the look. truck handles amazing with AD and 19's.

Multi-contour seats were a must when I ordered my 2013. Coming out of a 2011 50i, this X feels stronger with the M-performance option. The black exhaust tips are a nice touch, distinct from standard M-sport, and would look great with a black exterior.

Plenty of power with this setup, and really begs for handling to match (go with adaptive drive if $ not an issue). I have not experienced the Dinan tune, but expect the need to for adaptive drive to be even greater for aggressive driving.

To JCL and everyone else who replied so far. Thanks again.

My father has a Cayenne Turbo S with comfort access and that is what turned me away from it. I honestly like the old fashioned keyed startup and entry much better. Just personal preference.

Spare tire, no biggie for me. I am thinking about ditching the runflats before build though.

Cold weather package on m sport only adds rear heated seats, ski bag, and retractable headlight washers. For me in NY, being single without kids, I really dont need the 750 option that only gives a few features that I really dont need or use.

Adaptive Drive I would LOVE to have, but it is not financially feasible for me.

For a winter setup, my car will be garaged on all days except for 50 degrees and sunny. I own a mercury mountaineer beater SUV for daily driving in the winter.

Oh and thanks to you guys I ENDED UP Adding on the 900 dollar multi contour seat option. So that raised the MSRP slightly.

I am on the fence right now because of the M Performance Package.
I just got off the phone with the dealer and he called up Dinan Direct. Dinan stated that the 2013 50i tune is under development and wont be ready for a few months. He said there were many changes and variables in the ECU when compared to the 2012 50i. So, that means I am still on the fence with the M Performance Package. I am thinking maybe just order the $1600 m perf and than wait a year or so for the Dinan Stage 2 to be released which will bring the car over 500 horse and close to 600 torque. be happy with 440/480 for the time being. lol

HIRISC! CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW M SPORT BROTHA!

Dom

PS- Is it just me but I actually dont like the black exhaust tips on the m perf package. I like the stock 5.0 chrome looking rectangle tips. So, I would love the horsepower of the package without the black tips. Does anyone have a good picture of an M Sport with M Perf with black tips? I would love to see a better picture to make up my mind.

IS it just black tips and tune for M Sport? Or is there a physical hardware exhaust modification to increase flow out the back end?

Here you go for pics. The black tips require ordering with M-sport + M performance pack. Should be able to see in the configurator. I believe the black tips are just cosmetic, when comparing to standard M-sport exhaust.
