Help Pricing 2010 X5 35d

Hi All,

trying to decide between a new 2013 Acura with Tech package and a CPO X5. I am heavly leaning towards the X5 as i miss my FX35 from years ago and want something a bit more sporty.

I need help in getting a good price on a 2010 CPI X5 35d with the following options
Premium Package
Technology Package
3rd Row Seat

it has about 35K miles and comes with the 6yr /100K Extended Warranty. Car looks to be in excellent condition with a minor rear end accident in its history.

I appreciate any advice and or points on evaluating this vehicle and getting the best price i can.

Thank You for your help

Joe

You should look up the original MSRP and Invoice prices for THAT car with THOSE options...take some work, you need to serch for way back when the 2010 was new, someone posted it. As I recall (I bought a 2010) it was about 54k, 50k after incentives.

I'd say you want to shoot for 50-60% of that price.

How do you know the accident was 'minor'? Dealer tell you?

Thank You

Thank you

I'm pretty sure the MSRP on this vehicle is 59500 with all options included. I think the residual lease value was pegged at about .54 for this vehicle or 32130.

I would guess that I need to add a premium for the extended warranty/CPO as well.

as far as the minor damage - yes the dealer did say and it is also included on the car fax.

Yeah, pretty close- I had an old excel spreadsheet from when I was buying my 2010.

So the residuals tend to drive the value TO that point- but dealers acquire them for less. I think your are in the ballpark around 28-30 for what it cost the dealer.

A cpo adds a warranty- but THATS IT. The warranty is worth 3k, but costs the dealer (an estimated) 2k or less. Many (salesmen) will say you need to figure the costs to refurbish- the truth is that dealers pick the cherries that need little work and CPO those.

Dont think a CPO and carfax replaces a PPI. Especially after an accident. If the car had major damage, and they screwed up and CPOd it by mistake... and BMW says 'we wont repair it., that may have been due to the prior damage" you are absolutely SOL. There was one fellow with an X5 on bimmerfest recently in which the carfax never showed a major issue. Don't trust the dealer, they purposefully DONT look hard so they don't have to lie... do make sure you review the CPO inspection checklist. They are required to share that with the buyer, FYI

I just bought a 2010 X5 35D CPO this past weekend with 36k miles on it. I've been looking for a few months and this one was the best deal I had seen in the area that met my criteria. I did have to drive 3 hours to the dealer, but it was worth the trip. The suggested retail on the X5 I got was $66,800 new, I even have the original window sticker showing this. The dealer showed me that they paid $38k at trade in, then performed the CPO inspection which included a new set of run flat tires. So they probably had an additional $3k in the car. Knowing that they had roughly $41k invested in the car, I managed to get it for just a little more than that.
There were a few more in the area in the same price range that weren't CPO, but all of them had fewer features.
I don't know what area you're in. Around here, I wasn't finding anything cheaper that had low mileage and was in excellent condition.

I think a good deal will fall around $42k-$44k depending on options. I searched nationwide for my 2010 35D with the right options.

I'll just say relying on the dealer for disclosures on what THEY really paid, is probably not A plan.

For all you know they nicked the po for new tires at lease turn in, and fabricated a doc with that 'trade in value' written on it. Heck, the sales manage may- as a matter of standard practice- inflate all used car 'bottom line' costs to "help" the sales process. This way he knows his sales guys can say, "ok, you're killing me- I'll be honest and show you begat we paid",,,,,

But at the end of the day, the market defines the price. Especially on CPOs and BMW dealers.

Do keep in mind that dealers are paying 10-15% UNDER kbb trade in values...generally. Diesel may distort this a bit, but dealers make far more on used cars than new. IMO
