X5 4.8 to a VW GTI? No way.

I did it. Trading in the 2007 X5 4.8 for a 2013 GTI 2 door 6 speed manual. Sorry to leave you all. Been a fun ride, no pun intended. I'll be back, though, someday.

I have a friend who has the 2012 GTI and said it's a hoot. I think we all get that sporty car type of desire. Enjoy the new ride.

It's a nice platform. I have both the X5 and Golf TDI which comes with the GTI suspension

Enjoy! The Golf is a terrific drive; I plan to get the Mk7 TDI when it comes out next year in the States.

You're tellin' me. The salesman thought I was joking when I showed him my X5 to trade in. I told him it was a midlife crisis and not to ask questions.

Thanks all.

I always had the GTI in my favorite list.. one day...

Still I prefer the subaru wrx, smoother ride and 4 wheel drive thrill is really fun. Interior sucks compared to the GTI.

I've had three E36s in my past (two of which were M3s), and two X5s. I think I just need a change and a back-to-basics kind of thing. The GTI comes stock with Bluetooth, iPod hookup, and heated seats--good enough for me. I think the two things I'll miss the most are the HUD and the heated steering wheel. Oh, and that Napa leather is always nice...but the GTI isn't a luxury vehicle, in my opinion. It doesn't need leather, like the X5 does (again IMO).

Anyway, I will post a couple more photos after I pick it up tomorrow.

I just cleaned my X5 out. It'll be a sad day tomorrow. As they say though, when one door closes, another one opens. I'm really looking forward to the fact that the GTI has MUCH less exterior surface area, so it won't take an entire day to do a proper detail, like the X5 does/did.

Thank you to everyone who's helped me with my X5 problems over the years. As I said above, I will be back someday. I still have my eye on a X5 50i.
