NOx sensor installed, twice
Finally got to the connector and put the new one in. Tried to read the output in ISTA but no such thing, you need to get it out on the road coz the system won't enable the sensor readings until the temp at the SCR injector is at 150 degC. So, buttoned her up and off I went, but no amount of temp or driving would release the reading of the rear NOx sensor. Tried re-initializing the SCR and clearing the codes but nothing helped. Eventually started to suspect the "new to me sensor of 50k miles" might not be working. Fortunately I had bought a second one with 35k miles (total coincidence) that arrived just as I was putting the first one in the exhaust pipe. So, last thing I did yesterday was put it back on the jack stands and undo all the "wonderful" screws again. This morning got item nr. 2 in place and decided to simply warm it up before connecting to ISTA. Took a good 30 minute drive (w/o CEL appearing) and then connected to ISTA. First thing I did was reset the SCR system which initializes the NOx sensors (both initialized successfully). Then looked at the readouts which were normal!! At last it seems to be working as advertised. Now just need to do an oil change, remove the Euro hitch and install the US version (OEM) and put a couple of decent tires on, then she is ready to be listed. SF2000x5 - I asked the alignment shop to give me 1.0 deg camber and .01-.02 toe-in, matched side to side. Please read postings by ARD on the topic, there a quite a few and I like his logic. Then choose what specs you want to use.

Thorough Vacuum and Lexol cleaner/preserver
Before the sun started to hit my driveway, a thorough vacuum of the whole car. Then a light soapy cleanup followed by Lexol Cleaner and Leather Preserver. The picture was taken before I cleaned the top of the dash.
This afternoon a good wash when the sun starts to set and tomorrow a quick coat of wax to clean up the paint from the long trip through Europe. It is not too bad as it was parked indoors and washed before any longer period of being stationary. But a fresh coat of wax will make it shine at its best again.

Surprisingly it was easier than I thought. Removing the dash was easy but had a lot of steps. Center console on the other hand was a PITA. So many parts attached to it and every one is finicky.

When I was deleting my rear seat entertainment system I had the console in place but most if it was disassembled. It is hilarious and weirdly impressive how complex and over engineered that thing is, it is like small city of plastic pieces. |
