Has this been corroborated?

They have good prices, but I've never seen dealer cost exposed...

Route 66 warranty through various credit unions I heard was actually the GOLD plan equivalent from BMW. I asked my service manager friend and the people in billing for warranty at my dealership. They said that Route 66 is actually a very good warranty. I called to inquire about it and for a 5 year 100k( Mileage not on top of the current miles) which is currently at 48K miles. I was quoted $1975.00 for it. Exclusionary plan. Like the Gold plan from BMW. I thought it was very fair.

"Route 66 warranty" uh? Never heard of them ... I'm going to investigate.

Anybody familiar with them? What's the claim process like? Any reason not to use them if BMW dealerships honor the plan?

When the engine needed work - eccentric shafts or something like that it was nearly $5,000. Plus other piddling things.

As I've seen some things in the X5 I have now; not related to mechanical but again the sunroof and other niggling details I'm leery of it going out of warranty. And don't get me started on the annoying rattles and creaks from the rear hatch area. That has confounded the dealer who has basically made it worse with the work they've done...I digress. I think an extended warranty is valuable if you intend on keeping the car for a while.
Sounds pretty good - what 3rd party? I'm with Warranty Direct and the one time I've used them they covered what they were supposed to. Also a mechatronic sleeve (this was like $800). Also bluetooth and some other oil leak. I'm halfway to my cost. Warranty cost $3100 with $0 deductible for 4 years or when odo reaches 60k (I'm still only at 36k). I made sure it also covered the NAV and other tech-stuff.

I used to have WD on my 04 X5 3.0, everything was approved initially but started having issues with them after a while. Will never do business with them again.
