New member with questions about seating options and comfort.

I'm new to the forum but have been lurking around here for awhile and my wife and I are about to purchase a 2010 or 2011 X5 35d. I'm tall, 6'6" and have a hard time finding SUVs that are comfortable. My question is the seating options on the X5. My BMW dealer informed me that the multi-contour seats MAY give me more headroom than the base or sport seats because of the adjustability. Any truth to this? I sat in an X5 with what I believe were the SPORT seats and my head almost hit the top.

To be clear, are these the MULTI CONTOUR seats?:

And are these the regular sport seats??
[]

And I am assuming these are the base model seats??

Any help is welcome. Thanks

I believe so yes. I had MC seats in my '07 and I don't believe they would give you anymore head room. The height feature (you would need to put them all the way to the floor) should be the same on all models. The MC seats add power adjustable thigh support, seat back adjustment and enhanced lumbar

I'm 6'3" and have Multi-Contour seats--there is no height adjustment difference than the standard seats. But the rest of the adjustments you can do on them are nice.

I'm 6'4". I agree with posters above that multi-contour seats don't increase headroom. What they can do, however, is improve comfort. With insufficient headroom, you may end up reclining the seatback more than you otherwise want to. The multi-contour seat can be set to provide sufficient/better support in that instance, more so than the standard seat.

Best option for increased headroom is to find out if the vehicle can be ordered without a sunroof. Not sure on the E70, in your market. With other BMWs I have special-ordered without sunroofs to gain 2" headroom or so.

Having had the multi-contour seats, they are a must have for any future BMW I order.

I'm 5'0" and have the 20-way Comfort Seats. I have no problems with headroom as you can imagine (haha), but the adjustments are so amazing that I think people tall and short would be able to find a suitable position that's comfortable. The adjustable side bolsters and lumbar are my 2 favorite seat adjustments. I'll go for these versus any other seat option in my future rides for sure and I highly recommend that you try the 20-way Comfort Seats out for yourself at a local dealer so you can determine if they're right for you.

Say.. I seem to recall on the 2010 that the Comfort seats have a adjustable "bottom heat versus back heat" setting, that other models dont. is this still true?

I have comfort seat in my 2013 d. Friends who are over 6' tell me it still
feels cramp to them. For something that size and not having more leg room.
Just not comfortable to them. They get in a Tahoe or Denai American SUV
and they seem to fit.

In one 3 series had the
sports seats and did not like them. The other 3 has the base seats and to
me are more comfortable. Even the tall friends go if had to ride in the 3 would
rather it be the base 328i over 335i sport.

On the comforts. One issue just can't seem too get right for
me in the X is the headrest. But the comforts in the X
have been the best and worth the money

I have a 2013 and the 20-way Comfort Seats do have adjustable bottom versus back heat. It's amazing. I can't attest to whether or not the other seats have the same settings though. It's one of those features the vehicle brochures doesn't really mention.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Yes, you'd think BMW would want to create another bullet to support the $$$ difference.

Personally I like the heat on the back and not so much on the butt.

My 2011 and now 2012 had/have adjustable heating. I have Comfort seats and I can adjust from 100 bottom to 100 back.
