Bloody Screen

Hi Guys, Dave from sunny Perth. Well too bloody hot Perth 44 degrees C yesterday and 43 degrees C today so staying indoors and catching up on some research.
Just wondering if anybody is having the same problem and if they found a fix.
Read a few threads but they seem to stop before anyone has any real answers so thought Id start this again as by the sounds isnt a common problem.
Ive got a E53 2003 I think with the mk3 screen (large but no nav). First pixels started to disappear as if they were rubbed out leaving 10 odd grey irregular shapes. This happened end of last summer, about March, then the weather became a little cooler and they all came back for 6 months. Radio and CD still work fine. Weather started getting cold and they came back for a few months with no sign of any previous damage. Was great over our colder months around 18-22 degrees C. Summer and hot weather came back and last October pixels started their same tricks. Another month or so and then backlighting went out suddenly. No real issues except the pixels and no warning. Everything still works fine...... when i can see it.
I have read a few threads mentioning there are backlight globes for the screen. Cant find anything else about them and also a Diode numbered J4S47 but no one could find out any more info.
Ive had a bit of a look but dont want to poke where Im not suppose too. As the radio still works. And I only mention the weather as my dash pixels look perfect in winter and shocking again in summer.

Any news would be appreciated.

Cheers

since it seems to be temperature related, i would suspect that the ribbon cable has a rust spot or a poor contact... repairable, as per some posts that i had seen...

on the other hand, the whole screen can be replaced, look for search terms SHARP and SCREEN in your search criteria, there is a huge thread referencing a Sharp part number for the screen, and that screen is available on ebay...
