Thanks for the tip! Just insane! I've had a few bmw's and this has been the worst one! Last night , the right rear brake malfunction light turned on! After reading some post, sounds like I'm out a few more hundred! Lol bad trend!!

Anyone have any experience with the Audi q5, porsche cayenne, cadillac escalade, range rover sport? That's what I'm looking at right now!

There may be reliability issues with N62,but valve seals at 65 k?That is BMW after all.If the oil is going thru the seals and in the combustion chamber the smoke will be gray, not white.Excessive white smoke and water/condensation going out of the exhaust is reffered as a headgasket problem ,coolant going in the combustion chamber. But that is 99% result from overheating the engine. If it was never overheated it will be highly unlikely to be the problem.I would look for at least one more opinion if it were me.
Unfortunately it is no wonder 07 X5 will have some problems here and there.I feel for the owners of 2014 X5

I had the expansion tank blow about 7 months ago. It was never driven when it blew. It exploded in the garage. I had it towed the next morning. Bmw has all the service document. The even changed the manitronic seal (not sure what it's called). At the same time!

Juts get another opinion. And why a light bulb malfunction light would cost a few hundred?
As it was advised countless times here and on other forums, dealer is not the right place to maintain a modern BMW under warranty.Or leave the car there and pay the bill with eyes closed.

Just jumped the gun on the light malfunction! Read some post that the whole assembly burns. Just changed the light bulb and it was all good. I did notice the plastic housing for the bulb kind of melted.
My main concern is the engine. I should hear from bmw today about the situation. I hope it's good news.

The dealer notified me that they will repair the valve gaskets and head gasket kit for $2250 instead of $6000. Glad they brought the price down but should I still repair it instead of trading it in?

What else should I have them check once they get to that level of repair?

Dropped the X at the dealer last night for the repair. Any suggestions on what else they should replace since there in there? The tech said possibly the chain/belt. Any hoses? Spark plugs? Filters?
