X5 head gasket1
My X is a 2007 with 65k mile. Dealer told me that I needed a new head gasket for the price of $6000. Are they for real? My service advisor told me he would contact the local bmw rep to see what they can do. Has anyone had bmw help out in these situations? I told them that the X only has 65k miles and it crazy to do this at this point. All service has been done at the dealer and they know I take care of it. Any advise would help! |

Which engine do you have? Sounds fishy to me. The only symptom is smoke?

That would be a n62b48 8 cylinder I believe. I think they might be talking about valve stem seals in whick case they would be replacing the head gaskets(although can be done without pulling the heads). Granted $6k at a dealership sounds cheap for valve seals for that engine.

Isn't there something wrong if this happens at 65k miles?
Still a big expense. Might be time to look at other options. |

In 2007, BMW Palm Springs quoted me $7700 for a head gasket on my M3.
