I guess it's a simply "get what you pay for" scenario.
Can someone recommend something decent? The budget doesn't call for brembo so... |

Buy some known brand rotors/pads instead of eBay. If OEM is too expensive, then get Stoptech, etc. I have never replaced brakes for my X5 so I don't know whats available, but definitely not eBay !@#$s.

I recently did a full brake job front and rear. My front rotors were warped due to me replacing my pads with EBC red stuff ceramic. Horrible pads and warped my rotors within 4 months. I got Texstar rotors and Akebono pads and am very happy with the setup. I paid around $415 for for front and rear rotors and pads including the sensors and rotor hold down screws.

I have gone through a lot of Zimmerman rotors and they work well. I got some ATEs as well and they work.

Put those on my 335 and 525. Fucking hate them. Not sure if it's the ceramic pads or the lack of friction surface area of a slotted and drilled rotor. But they have no bite. They always feel faded.
It's hard with BMW bc the OEM brakes have do much bite. I think pads make more of a difference them rotors. Get textar pads as they are the un branded OEM. And just any OE rotor. Zimmerman are ok but their coating is a gimmick. It wares off immediately |
