Opinions needed please

Hello guys, first post here. I need an opinion for a vehicle that caught my attention and I would appreciate any thoughts that I can get. I started looking for a X5 as we're expecting our first kid soon. I was originally looking for a late year e53 but theres an e70 that almost look too good to be true. I'm kind of scared that it's a 2007 and a 4.8 so any output as to how reliable those are will be really appreciated. For that many options the price looks ridiculously low.

here's the link to the ad for whoever wants to take a look at it:

2007 BMW X5 4.8i EXTRA CLEAN

Thanks, Alex.

Looks like a nice car ...

Pro's:
1. It's loaded (see attached PDF): sport package, adaptive drive, active climitized seats, HD stereo, 19" wheels

Con's:
1. hi miles!
2. First year of production: notoriously bad for BMW's

Must get:
- carfax history
- independent inspection, including engine compression test (cold and hot, look for coolant leaks, oil leaks above, below and on the side of the engine. Suspension component wear. Check I-drive for service history. Download any/all faults currently registered.

Report back here with findings ...

Kind of crazy how loaded it is but is missing nav! That would be a deal breaker for me personally.

A 35xdrive is better on gas milage, more reliable and faster. A high milage one would prob run you a bit more but well worth it.
My 60k mile 2011 is worth 26k. A 125k mile one I'm sure would be around 20

I love BMW-itis

Hey,

I feel like you and I have the same condition. It's called "I love BMW-itis" with symptoms of "I am afraid of the costly maintenance-psychosis"

I keep thinking about the pros and cons of buying a BMW again and I actually went back and read a few posts on the E70 BMW forum to remind me of what I am considering.

You can see the posts here:
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ool-me-x5.html

Or the most eye-opening one here:
http://www.xoutpost.com/998656-post9.html

I replied later on page 2, but I am still thinking about this vehicle since it is a pleasure to drive. This is why I was so concerned about warranties and maintenance......which is another gamble with cars!

If you need to chat and have a meeting to start a support club I can make myself available for that........but I suggest you Don't buy a BMW X5 over 100K miles unless you have a shop to work on the car or a reliable way to keep down the cost.

Nothing breaks my heart more that seeing others who can afford anything that breaks on the car but don't have half the passion that other enthusiasts do. But I don't hate them......because if they didn't trade in their cars, I could never afford a BMW.

Best of luck dude,

Adrian

P.S. Here is the one I want to buy:

Vehicle Details: Niello Infiniti-Concord Infiniti Dealer - Stock #4575U, 2007 BMW X5 4.8i

Thank you for all the replies guys. I've decided not to go with this e70, but to keep to my original plan which was buy a late e53 now, and in couple years get a lci 35i or 35d M Sport. Even though the many options are very tempting on this one, as previously mentioned I'm not a fan of the idea of getting a first year model BMW, especially a v8 with that many miles on it.

Best of luck to you too Adrian, that e70 does look really nice!
