How are you reading fault codes?
Can you access each individual module? See if one of them is non-responsive? If I had to guess you fried something when current went somewhere it shouldnt (brilliant guess, eh?)... but not much more. Its a holiday in the US...give it a while before people get back online over the weekend. |

I'm with ARD on this one. In the absence of any detailed information surrounding the incident that caused the faults...and given what little information was shared I'd have to say it does sound like something was fried...expensive. Then again, did you check the fuse panel under the dash (passenger compartment), that is notoriously awkward to get to with the result its often overlooked? I'm going to assume you already checked all the fuses on the panel in the boot. Its a long shot but the only opinion I can offer.
Good luck |

X5 Electrical faults
Basic stuff I know, but have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few seconds then re-connecting to see if everything is reset.

Got hold of the agents on this issue, apparently they also had a similar problem. They fitted engine mountings on a similar vehicle and when they connected the battery it fried the convenience controller. Shit happens to the best of people. Very expensive repairs in the tune of R8000.00 (South African rands). I did open the controller to check but couldn't find anything burnt, that's why I think maybe if u code or reset it probably would come right.

I did disconnect the battery for over 3 hours. Even had the battery charged full capacity, tried to code with the G-Scan, but I am sure it needs to be at the agents. Thanks guys for all the help in this issue.

Please post when you have it resolved. It would no doubt add to the knowledge base on this forum and potentially help other to avoid a similar, costly repair bill.

Did the OP eventually get this problem resolved?

BMW X5 E70 4.0D Electrical Faults
Hi Sorry I took so long to reply. But the issue with the vehicle has been sorted out with the agents. Apparently they had to change the controller on the right hand side of the accelerator foot well (convenience controller). They needed the vehicle for the whole day to code the controller with the diagnostics equipment.
Very expensive engine mounting repairs, these vehicles are very soft when it comes to the electrics. The whole job came to about R8500.00(South African Rands) |

What do you mean by "the agents" I've got much of the same issues after my battery died from it sitting in the garage for two weeks while upgrading injectors, catless downpipes, etc and now I get many of the same messages. What's a convenience controller? You mentioned it's something that could just be coded back to working again, so why didn't you do that, or did you do that?
