Oil change 2009 X5 V8

I was doing the oil change today, I've notice the 6mm hex nut in the filter housing was on pretty tight. I couldn't remove it to change out the old rubber Oring so I didn't bother. Is not changing the Oring going to cause a leak? As far as refilling the oil, I only put 8 quarts of oil in and the idrive show as full. Is the idrive accurate? Also, the Mann oil filter(823x) came with a white Oring for the filter housing, is this something new?? Thanks, Sam

it is fine, I did it a couple times like that, if I remember correctly I use 7.8 liters of oil, for the O ring I always got a black rubber..
