I still don't like the new (fake) front air intakes on the M Sport models so would probably choose the SE. Dark colors probably make the M sport these air intakes less obvious. The M50d's silver blades across the air intakes improve the look. The concept eDrive car was the best looking new X5 at the show with nice front bumper and wide 21" wheels.

The rear looks much wider than the E70's but is fine.

The sides of the car do look much straighter (less wheel arch extension) than the E70 but several of the show cars had 20" wheels which help make the car look more muscular. Personally I don't like the cars in most of BMW's promotional literature as they choose to show it with the smaller wheels which I think is a mistake.

However, I still can't decide between the X5 and new Range Rover Sport...
FYI, I have a 2011 E70 5.0i with adaptive suspension and just test drove the 2014 RR Sport 5.0 supercharged to compare. I am undecided too between the Range Rover and new X5. The RR does feel much more like an SUV than even the E70. The E70 feels more like a car with regards to the handling. The performance was not too different to the 5.0i twin turbo. The quality of the interior was very nice, however I think the F15 will be better.
