Does this outflow the 4.6IS intake manifold?

szisis 11-28-2010 09:11 PM

I don't Know. This is the famous Dinan Intake manifold, essentially a pre-vanos V8 mani whith a lot better airflow than the stock 4.4. You should ask your mechanic or someone else on the board if it is better than the stock 4.6

Looks like the 4.6is already comes with it

That would also mean the answer is no....it cant outflow the 4.6 manifold because it IS the 4.6 manifold.

Is this a drop in replacement and how hard is it to do? I don't want to do major modifications to get this put in. I have a M62 2003 4.4i, Did you have this on your bmw?

szisis 12-01-2010 10:59 PM

It is pretty straight-forward, nothing difficult. Yes I do have one on mine, and I can tell you it is a huge improvement from the stock manifold especially in top-end power. I did mine when I had to change the intake manifold head gaskets. It is bolt-on. You take of yours, fit the replacement gaskets to this one, its always a good idea to get new ones, and bolt it back on. It doesn't get any better!

It is a bolt-in item, will give a little more topend power...a software tune would be recommended to get the full benefit. I got mine for $50 shipped from a Bimmerforums.com member. This is something you can do while replacing the valley pan gasket, oil seperator, etc.

You can find these anywhere from your local junkyard, other BMW message boards like Bimmerforums, bimmerfest, 5driver, etc or online parts places like www.car-part.com. Use realoem.com like E55AMG did so you can see what years and engines you can pull the manifold from.
