I recently removed the comfort seats from my X5. They are in great shape and are not out of a high mileage car (65k). They function perfectly and come complete and ready to install. You shouldn't need any programming as no data is stored in them. Plus and play 04-06 I have no idea about pre-facelift cars.

$450 picked up. I am willing to meet halfway with tri-state members or deliver them for $100 more. Open to reasonable offers.

do you need seats in exchange?

No I switched to sport seats. I know its a toss up between the two and while I miss the upper portion of the comfort seats I have serious back problems and the sports are a better fit for me. I have these out and ready to go.

I really don't like my sport seats but at the same time I never sat in a comfort seat. after hearing what you said I think I might just suck it up and take it. for me, the sport seats doesn't hold me that good. I feel like the sport seat is like a park bench with some foam and leather and that lumbar support is terrible I feel like it's always inflated

I originally wanted to dismantle my sport and comfort seats and see if it was possible to merge the backrest of the comfort with the base of the sport because it would be like my old 740i Msport seats which were by far the most comfortable I had besides my 08 750 (nothing can compare to those). But I got cold feet and decided to sell.

If you think the sport seat doesn't hold you then you definitely wouldn't want comforts. They are MUCH softer and the backrests/headrests are amazing but the base has no bolster what so ever.

I have serious problems with my lower back so the sports were better for me but I think it really just comes down to preference. Either way I sold the set last night so this thread can be closed if need be.

Not sure what kind of back problems you have, but the base of my comforts is all that I would switch out to get the sport bottom... and that would be 80% for looks ...lumbar support is great on the comforts, and I feel I'm way more comfortable and feel a lot better after a long trip vs the sports...
I drove my friends 4.8is with sport seats for a day and thought they were rather stiff and uncomfortable...but like you said, E38 seats are hard to beat...now I have no idea how the 750 seats are but they sound comfortable;)
