FS: BSW Subwoofer System for E53

I'm selling my E53 to get an E70, so while this Bavarian Sound Werks subwoofer system is awesome, I have no use for it and it is up for sale!

I'm selling the whole system and you can look up the details here:

http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr.../X5-Subwoofer/

I've had it for about a year and it sounds WAYYY better than the stock DSP sub. It also sounds WAYYY better than the Infiniti Basslink I used to have. It's extra awesome because it gives huge bass and it TAKES UP NO TRUNK SPACE!!! Look up the web site and see where it gets installed in an E53 and how nobody will be able to tell its there until you turn on the stereo. Its an impressive system!

What's included is the custom enclosure with aluminum cone subwoofer, the 220-watt Alpine amplifier, and all the wiring (everything in the picture). Just bolt it in and go! I also still have the installation instructions that will (of course) be included in the sale. One quick note is that I had to sand a little bit off the back of the enclosure so it would clear the power lock actuator for the gas door, but that hasn't affected it's sound quality at all. Mine was one of the first that BSW made so I think the coating might have been sprayed on a little too thick in that area.

These sell new for $700 plus shipping, but I'll sell mine for $500 plus shipping. If you email me your zip code, I can get you a shipping quote

Enclosure materials

I don't think that's true. This is one is MDF that has been painted with Rhino Liner type stuff and I'm almost positive they still make them this way today. This sub is totally awesome the way it is, so I doubt BSW would have invested time in re-engineering another enclosure made with new materials when it already looks great, sounds great, is a "young" product, and is easily marketable. That doesn't make much business sense if you ask me, especially with so many new BMW models coming out that they need to develop upgrades for.

Maybe they use a smoother textured spray-on rubberized coating on the outside which makes it look different. If you want to find out for sure, speak to Jason at BSW and he'll be able to tell you one way or another. Perhaps I'll give him a buzz myself - he said he'd have me a new IB subwoofer system for my E46 coupe back in September and I'm still waiting!!

Picture on BSW web site

Yeah, that picture on the web site is the real deal, but it is their prototype (working model) which was simply painted and sealed with a more normal type of paint. Mine is one of the first few production models which they coat with the Rhino Liner stuff, which I think is perfect for the application. Not only does it look good and is tough, it totally seals the enclosure and significantly reduces the chances of the enclosure rattling against the sheet metal of the vehicle.

After all the custom subwoofer enclosures I've built over the past 15 years, I wish I thought of painting them with Rhino Liner!! Those guys at BSW do it right!!!
