It will work, and I speak from personal experience. I swapped out my 4:3 screen for a 16:9 screen and it worked fine with my MkIII. I later upgraded the MkIII to a MkIV.

Cool!
Was the screen swap easy? Are there any step-by-step screen swap postings?

Was the MkIII to a MkIV upgrade mainly a plug 'n play upgrade?

Your opinion: Besides a larger viewing area, what other benefits, Pros and Cons, did you experience after you swapped out your 4:3 screen for the 16:9 screen (but before you upgraded to the MkIV unit)? Did you gain features and/or lose other features that you didn't have w/ the 4:3 screen?

Would this be X5world without having some tips on how to do something such as this? See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...-retrofit.html

I don't think the brackets referenced are available from BMW any longer, but the other method I describe to secure the 16:9 unit works just fine.

There are really only two benefits to the 16:9 screen versus the 4:3 screen that I can think of. One is obviously the larger screen, which makes viewing and using the system easier and more functional. The other is, in my opinion, a better and more updated look to the vehicle. You don't gain or lose any other functionality.
