Toothpaste to Repair Headlights? What the...

I was on youtube and came across this video. Amazing results for the little effort this guy put into it..

i wonder if it actually works, what do u think?

Not 100% sure but i think it looks a little fishy and fake. go to 1:23 and rewind a little and keep your eye on the headlight, when he is wiping the toothpaste of with the towel the transition seems to happen like it was digitized and not actually by him.

youre right, it does seem to just "get clearer." weird..

but then again, that could just be the shadow he creates with his arm, take another look

Well, toothpaste does have some abrasives in it to whiten your teeth by scratching away some enamel. I would expect that those abrasives would work like a polishing compound to take away the oxidation. It does seem really successful, more than what I would expect toothpaste to do.

They did this on an episode of "Trucks". Half of each headlight lens was masked off to show the difference. One was polished with the Meguiars product, the other was polished with toothpaste. Results were very similar.

I saw that episode aired last week too. the toothpaste will provide some results, but not quite as good as the normal professional products and procedures. But hey, if it's all you got, then go for it, better than nothing.

hahaha... why would someone spend so much time spoofing a toothpaste video and how does your RIGHT arm get tired of rubbing in less then a minute?? Probably why he has so much time to make this video or he's left handed!
