Latest ULF support phonebook xfer from Treo 650?
Can anyone tell me if the latest bluetooth ULF will transfer the phonebook (well, the favorites anyway) from the Treo 650? If so, I'll ebay this module and buy the latest. Thanks! |

Which version of the Treo 650 do you have? The Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, etc. Then we will go from there. I have a Verizon Treo 650 with the latest firmware 1.04 and ULF -522 in my X5 and "favorites" eventually transferred about 1-2 weeks later. Don't know why it took so long, but it did. The VZW Treo 650 finally transferred its "favorites" to my ULF-522 in my M3 this week (that is my wife's daily driver) so the Treo sees the M3 less than the X5 which is my daily driver.
If you have the Sprint or Cingular, be sure you have the latest firmware. Also, make sure your BLUETOOTH is ON with your Treo650. Also, before you start the car, make sure your Treo 650 is ON (backlight is on, etc.) You can be on Phone mode or Applications screen, but it has to be on for the ULF to pair with the Treo. Once it is paired, the Treo screen can be "off". Good luck. Quote:

It's been like that for... oh, a few months now. I've tried re-pairing and everything. It's certainly not a problem unique to me... |

Hmm. Sorry to hear about that. But it does pair. I am not sure how I got the FAVORITES to transfer. The first two-three weeks of having the ULF -522 installed in the E46, I would get PLEASE WAIT. One time, I did have the Bluetooth ON, but the "phone" was NOT on and then I turned on the phone after the car started and next thing I knew, my favorites transferred.
In the E53, the Treo 650 transferred to the ULF-522 in the X5 after 1 week or so later. I agree, there is something funny with the Treo with the phone book transfer. My wife's RAZR transferred the phone book within seconds after it was paired in both cars. Quote:

My Cingluar Treo 650 has worked great with my 1st Gen ULF (552 I think--who can keep them straight with the stupid numbering convention?!) from the day I got the phone 1 year ago. My favorites transfer EVERY time I get into the car, whether I have turned on the backlight before turning on the car. Dialing using the steering wheel buttons is flawless. Not once I have had the 'Please Wait' message appear. My (I am on my 4th and soon to be last) Treo functionality in the car has been the best part about the unit. I have always had the latest firmware on the phone, and even after I have rebuilt the phone after scores of hard resets and repairing with the X (I know my BT passcode by heart), I have never had a problem. I didn't realize others were not so lucky. Maybe that 1st Gen ULF isn't so bad after all?!

It is funny. I think it depends if you have NAV or not. However, I do have the Verizon Treo 650 which is officially according to Palm and BMW NA, not compatible with any BMW bluetooth system.
I think it depends which firmware your Treo 650 has and which type of Treo650 you have (Verizon, Sprint, & Cingular). The interesting thing is that the Cingular and Sprint is suppose to be compatible with the BMW bluetooth system and NOT the Verizon. My Verizon Treo 650 does pair and transfer the phone book to both my E53 and E46 car. However, my E53 does NOT have BMW NAVIGATION system and it seem to pair and transfer the phone book a little quicker (I have tons of favorites). My E46 with BMW OEM NAV took a little longer to transfer the phone book, but now it does transfer the "favorites". I have heard Verizon Treo 650 pair and transfer phone books in the 1st gen -552 ULF as well. I think the audio quality of the -522 ULF is suppose to be better than the older ULF. The -522 ULF does support GSM SMS as well. The SMS Text Messages will show up on your NAV screen or MID screen (if you don't have NAV). I agree with Rangerfan, I can't live without my Treo 650 and finally we got Hayaku on board with the Treo 650 and he loves it as well. Quote:

try pushing the picture of the FACE after the name is shown on the instrument cluster. It is asking you "is this the one you want" with the ? mark. To accept, press the picture of the face on the steering wheel.
