Replacing factory radio without losing OBC?

I want to replace the factory radio in my 2002 X5 with someting better but how can I do that without losing the OBC and all my settings?

Only way I can think to do this would be to stash/mount the existing radio somewhere else (perhaps in the glove box or down in the ash tray area like in the pic I posted on your thread over in the Nav forum)

Do you happen to have that guy's email so I can ask him if he can make another faceplate? I suppose if he did it successfully the old radio will fit in the ashtray. That would be a great solution. Or, why not leave it alone and add the new unit somewhere else...?
