Strange Volume Issue
Hi, I installed a DICE unit in my X5 a few months ago and last week, whilst on a long journey, I experienced this weird problem.
Whilst on iPOD via the DICE, when I increased the volume, it would automatically be reduced. No matter if I used the Dial on the SATNAV or the button on the steering, it would reduce itself, like an auto cutoff for volume. Could it be because I was traveling above 100km/h? When I switched to Radio, it did not do this. Only when I was using the iPOD/DICE. At first I thought that maybe my iPOD (which is in the boot area with the CD Changer) was rubbing against something and that the volume was being lowered there. But I moved the unit on my trip back to where I know there would be no inteference, and it would behave like this on most of the time as well. I normaly do not have this problem, but on this trip, it was really weird. Sure hope someone can relate to my problem and offer some 'sound' advice. Thanks. |

It happened again yesterday. When I increased the volume it cut it back down again. This is getting on my nerves. I can't listen to my fav tunes anymore

I have personally never heard of this issue.
So to clarify, you are at let's say 50% volume and you turn it up to 75% and it just turns back down to 50%?

Does this happen in other modes (AM, FM, cassette) or only the DICE?

Hi Tom, yes you are correct. Whenever I increase the volume, it will go back down. And yes, it happens only when I use the iPOD with the DICE. It does not happen with Radio or Television.
Thanks. |

We have also never heard of this issue. Sounds like it is messing with the iPods volume as you turn the volume up, it then "readjusts" the volume.
Where was the kit purchased. If it was either of us we will both be happy to assist.

Got it from BSW in December last year. I notice it happens on my longer drives only.

Working on a solution here for you. Apologies for the slow response.
I think I have an answer. What year is the X5 and it does have Nav correct?
