The radio no play
I took the X5 to the dealer (still under warranty), and they kept it a couple days. Returned it and said it worked the whole time they had it, and they couldn't reproduce the problem. Implied that the aftermarket stuff I had was the problem.  I knew it had to be the stock amplifier, because that seemed to be the only thing that made sense. However, I also knew that as long as I had my aftermarket stuff in there, I wouldn't get a decent result from the dealer. I spent a couple hours removing my XM sat radio and BSW subwoofer from the system, and reattaching everything back stock. What do you know, it still didn't work.  Took the car to the dealership today for them to check it again. Wow, I got a call saying the amp was bad, and they will order me a new one.

Glad you found the origin of the problem. To their defense they probably see all sort of crap as aftermarket stuff so I can understand that they did not want to touch it until you removed your audio mods. On the other hand it would have been pretty easy fort them to disconnect the stock amp and test it separately.

Well, I got my X5 back from the dealer yesterday, after they replaced the stock amp. Works again now...what a surprise! Now I have to reinstall my XM sat radio (done) and my BSW subwoofer/amp (partially done, and will finish tomorrow). I am glad to get my tunes back!!!

I have got to offer a few props to Halston at BSW. I had misplaced my installation instructions, and got the point of not remembering which colored wires attached to what. Halston took my calls, and emailed me the instructions immediately. That is what customer service should be with every company!!!

Were you still under warranty for the amp replacement or did you have to pay for it, and if so, how much?
