Hello again!

Well done to the group for getting this far. I love this reverse engineering.

No problems on my 2004 Mk-IV system in Australia. Still getting the same redraw glitches but it has been like this since version 26.

Apart from the image I created with the roundel in my second post, here is my effort. I made this image from scratch after looking at an iDrive startup screen. It looks great here in a web browser on the PC, but the colours look dreadful on the Mk-IV's screen - it almost looks grey.

I think we need to find out which colours are able to be displayed by the navigation computer. The splash screens don't quite look as you'd expect them to... There must be a colour table somewhere listing 'legal' colours...

Nice image Paul.

I'd guess that the appearance on the monitor is more likely due to poor colour rendition on the monitor itself rather than a limitation in the colours that can be stored in the GIF.

The car monitor requires different characteristics to a PC monitor. For example, one of the prime characteristics must be that it is visible even in strong light and this probably compromises its ability to accurately display colours.

You coluld try increasing the saturation of your image, so it looks too colourful on your PC monitor.

Thanks Richard,

That's what I thought initially, however the TV displays wonderful colours and so too does the Nav really, menu colours & the map display (particularly post v26).

I tried increasing the saturation of the GIF but it still looks dreadful!

Not to worry. The great thing about all this tweaking is that we can at lease switch the T26.09A for the old ==BMW== logo

Paul,

Unless I saved your image incorrectly it looks like it may not be in the correct format.

I've changed it to index colour and flatened the layers in the image it looks the same on the PC:

but it only has 256 colours, try it instead.
