I beleive they are a variation on the ADPCM format, rate 16000..well I can recognise the voice when played using this format.
What are you using to playback the files? I used Wavelab and I had to use bitrate 8000 for correct tone but the soundquality was very bad. Those .csf files have a header with text "CSF OKI MSM6585". Chip's data-sheet is over here: http://www.okisemi.com/datadocs/doc-eng/msm6585.pdf

Maybe the manufacturer has a development software for the files, we just need to find it...

I did more searching, there are many editors for .vox (adpcm) files and those playback the .csf files when file extension is changed to .vox. But looks like a .csf file contains a custom header, many(?) .vox files and probably also a checksum. So a similar program that is used to extract and change startup logos is needed also for this. Anyone?

If I have V26 already installed on my Nav, is it possible to just make a image of the V26 Voice hack onto a CD-R and get it to work?

i just read this on MSNBC -

"Wrong @#*&ing way!
Tired of that sweet, polite voice giving you directions from your car satellite navigation system? You’re in luck — well, if you’re in the U.K.

According to The Sun newspaper, a company called Voice Skins is offering impressions of Ozzy Osbourne’s voice for download to navigation systems.

You can download a version with swearwords or one with just bleeps. The newspaper reported that the Osbourne voice tells drivers when they’ve reached their “@#*ing destination.” Delightful."

Ughh... did you go to the website and listen to the voices? I wouldn't be able to take more than 1 day of those voices.

Did you try this? I replace languages files and when I put this disk in my navi with v26 loaded it loaded only languages files without downgrading.

Yes. By not changing any version-strings the system would assume it's the same version and simply not update. (The bootloader does not compare the whole disk for differences, just skips the update if the inserted cd has the same version as the already installed one.)

Are you sure you did not come from 26.09a or any other version? Would be amazing...
