Anyone have an old OEM DVD? $20 for your troubles...
I didn't have a DVD so I went through the download and burn process. The DVDs seem to be fine on my PC, but the MKIV doesn't read them. My OEM CD works fine. Before I go through troubleshooting (cleaning DVD laser etc) I thought it would be worthwhile to test it with an OEM DVD. I don't want to buy a new one at $200 if DVDs won't work. $20 + $5 Priority Mail shipping to anyone that can provide a working OEM DVD (not burned). Some of you folks that burned a new DVD that works and still have an old N American DVD laying around can make a quick $20 and help out a fellow Bimmer owner in the process! |

why don't you just download the DVD and burn the newest one for your system? If not, I've got one, e-mail me at [email protected] -Josh

I want to go with a real OEM DVD to make sure it isn't a "burning" issue. Cool - I will email you. |

I have found the ONLY way I can successfully burn a good DVD is to use top notch media (I use Verbatim Datalife) and burn it SLOOOOW - 1x speed if you can, or the slowest your drive will support. Works for me 99% of the time. You also need to ensure you are burning the DVD with the correct 'format' as I believe some DVD programs don't always burn the info to disk in the standard way (ISO?) - I actually now use DVDENCRYPTER but did use Alcohol120% until it stopped working. |

I have a gut feeling that this has a dirty laser lens, but like I said - before I mess around with this any more, I want to ensure which problem it is. |

Excuse me for butting in on your discussion about the Navigation DVD...Is what you are discussing is a burned copy of the disc. I'm new to these X5 discussions, just bought my 02 4.4 three weeks ago. I think it has the Northeast US '01 navigation disc. The dealership has it for $200 which is a series of 8 discs. Is this my only option?
