Looking for NAV 3-1/63 OS update for MKIII
Whilst everyone is busy updating their MKIV system to the latest version, some of us folks with the MKIII would like to update to the last version that was developed. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any working links for the latest NAV version for the MKIII. Can anyone help me? The links that point to http://www.bmwnavigation.com/ is not working anymore. I get an error message saying Help plesase! It'll save me some $$$ by not having to go to the dealer to get the upgrade done. They want $90 to perform an operating system upgrade.... |

OK, so I've downloaded the file called v22_1_CloneCD.rar
I've not had any experience with RAR files before, so I downloaded a copy of CloneCD, and burnt a CD out of that RAR file. In my Windows XP file explorer, it can't see any files in the CD after it was burnt. The filesystem is not recognised by Windows XP. Is this right? I am reluctant to put the CD into my car, not knowing what is on the disk. Help! |

OK, I'm getting more and more informed as I google stuff.
So this RAR file is a compressed file format, which I've now learnt. I've downloaded and installed a copy of WINRAR and managed to decompress the files, which CloneCD now seems to understand better. I've burnt a new disc and now there are some recognisable files in the CD. Fingers crossed, I hope this will work! |

I had to download the Key CD because the upgrade finished and asked for the key.
Did that, and now everything is working perfectly! Whoohoo!! I read that version 23 only affect MKIV unit, and there is no subsequent changes to the MKIII system. Is this right? |

NO!!!
Your information is wrong! Lastest edition software to the MARKIII: V23. MK III Systems The software version is shown in the top right corner of the "setting" screen. The software/hardware version is displayed as " 3-1/63" or "3-2/63"(MK III with split screen). The numbers have the following meanings: first digit 3 - is a 3rd generation navigation system (MK III); second digit 1 - is a 1st device variant (top navigation – MK IIIc color screen), or 2 – is a 2nd device variant (radio navigation – MK IIIm monochrome display); the last two digits 63 - are the software version of the graphic component (6.3).

Hi Dodi,
I read on the BMW Navigation System FAQ that BMW have stopped development for the MKIII at version 3-1/63, which was introduced in V22. I've downloaded V22 and can confirm that my software (as reported on the screen) is already 3-1/63. So if I download V23, and install, I will *still* be on software 3-1/63. But if I had a MKIV unit, V22 will give me software 4-1/20 and V23 will give me software 4-1/30 That's my understanding, based on the FAQ, which can be found here: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ystem-faq.html Can you have a read of it and confirm? (see page 4 of 8) Also, I read on another thread that V23 is not suitable for upgrading MKIII units, because it causes problems, but it's not 100% confirmed. Cheers and thanks for your help in pointing me towards V22, which has updated my MKIII to the latest software version. |
