Thanks to all who have posted information on POI's and for all the relevant "how to....." For me this has proved very useful over the past few months!

I now have a fully functioning 2007-1 with the added Speed Cameras, Speed Cameras Europe + for me Landrover Service and LPG Filling Stations. I have also added WiFi hotspots under the Entertainment catagory and for some strange reason I have added a completly new Fast Food catagory with the usual McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc.... I guess "because I can"

Once you understand the logic of the file structure there really is no end to what you can add as long as you have the relevant ascll tom tom database files,a bit of patience creating/editing the htm and LSC files and a few spare dvd's for the coasters you will create due to those few tiny errors! But its very satisfying when you finally succeed!

Thanks again to everyone who contributes here

Andy.

Sounds good, where did you get the database for the fast food and wifi spots? any chance of a copy of your eng.lsc and the htm,idx and url files??

I always use a dvd-rw, as this saves me on coasters

One of the best places I have found for the various database is PocketGpsWorld but there are others and they are not always upto date!

http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/tomtompoi.php

I must admit I didn't think DVD-RW's worked but I will remember that one for next time

Andy.

ccfj1 - sent you a PM

I have done all the above mentioned, burned the disc to dvd and loaded into the car, the car recognises the disc and shows the map on the screen showing my street.

However when I go to destination guide, and try to select country, the list is empty..... therefore I cannot also access any of the "Information" options.

Has anybody else seen this?

Cheers
Dave

Doesn't work for E65

My first post :

The disc that came with my 7 series E65 car was a CD and was quite pleased to see that it reads DVDs too. I thought that all 7 series used the High discs.

I've done everything as mentioned and although my DVD is readable (maps displayed etc) none of my added Menu enteries are visible. Another thing is I cannot get the postcode feature to work too. I put the same disc into our X5 and it works perfectly. Infact it seems like in my 7 series the menu is not even coming from the map DVD at all. I thought it must be due to the fact that I did not upgrade the OS ever. I then upgraded the OS to V28 but still nothing.
I checked with Navteak in the V28 OS and I think that the 7 series uses hard coded menus from the OS. Has anyone else faced this issue with the E65/E66.

BTW Navtweak does not open the RR/0102 files. Any reason for that?

dpcc, you do not use the destination giude (unless you want to go somewhere), to view the speed camera pois just,

select gps,
select information (scroll to bottom of gps menu)
select travel information
select info on location
select car
select speed camers.

then go back to the map and the speed cameras pois are installed.
if in doubt, follow the pics in thes post.

priyankacrasta, I think that the E65/E66 is a pro system not a high? so the disc mods will not work.

It wouldn't let me select a destination to allow me to go anywhere, country list was empty.

Are you sure? How come the High system disc and the V28 disc works then? I thought the E65/E66 were an anomaly to the rule and was the only iDrive system to use the High version.

Any help?

dpcc, you do not need set a destination...

The pois do not form part of route destination unless you want to go to one, you don't, you just want to see them.

follow the the pics in my pervious post and this will enable the speed camera poi's, but only if you have done the mods and burned the disc correctly.

select gps (from the menu button),
select information (scroll to bottom of gps menu)
select travel information
select info on location
select car
select speed camers.

DO NOT TRY AND ENTER A DESTINATION.

priyankacrasta, No I'm not 100% sure (i have an e46, I'm sure about that), if you are correct (& i don't doubt you are) then I don't know why you cant see the modded pois, although I did read (on another forum) that some one else had a similar problem with the postcode search feature.

Maybe the 7series nav is a hybrid of the both the high (map disc & os) and the pro (idrive) and somethings don't work as they should.
