E39 : BM54 radio does not blend nav-message

Hello

I've just upgraded my navigation system i the E39

I installed a BM54 (Becker, from 2003) and it works fine, but when a nav-message sounds, it completly mutes the actual sound (radio, cd or tape) - just like the BM24 did.

One of the advantages by installing the BM54 should be that it would blend the nav-message onto the eg. the CD-Sound

Can I adjust it somewhere, or isn't it all of the BM54 that has that feature ?

System consists of : MK-IV, DSP Amp. ("neues timing"), 4:3 Screen, Hybrid TV, CD-Changer and the BM54

The Radio/Nav voice volume attenuation is set by the volume control in the menu (under setting (or set), the one with the bar and the voice saying "louder/quieter") in the system setup, so setting it here will enable you to mute the radio when being given a voice command (like you have now), or blend the voice with the radio..

Set it for quieter, somewhere in the middle should do it.

HTH

P.S. Oh and welcome to the forum

Hello ccfj1

Thanks for the welcome

I haved tried the "Nav voice volume" - it becomes louder and quieter, but at no point it blends the nav into the playing sound - it still mutes, leaving no radio-sound left (if it was radio I was listening to)

It's a small problem, but I'm just sure that the BM54 should be able to do the "Blending"

Hmm, you are right, it should blend (mine does) if I select quieter (all the way) it mutes the radio and i only hear the nav instruction, otherwise it blends with whatever volume the source is set to.

Not sure what it may be now...

Adjust the "Nav-Min" option from the INFO button.

What do you mean by "BM54 Black?"

There is another guy over on the Bimmerboard nav forum trying to get Nav-Min to work on his BM54 with no love. He has tried two different radio modules, NavCoder, dealer re-coding... nothing has worked.

Hi Brian
That was me. I got an e53 x5 last week and that doesn't have nav-min either. Which gets me digging into a 5 year old mystery I want to resolve. The nav-min option did control the mute level for nav guidance. But if this option isn't avail anymore what replaces it?
