stupid question....nav parts from junk/salvage yard?

have not been through a junkyard since looking for parts for my old fiat 850, but is it even possible to find 04/03 model x5's in local salvage yards? if so, if the time was spent to come accross a nice one, would it be worthwhile to yank any nav parts from such a car? like the mkIV and possible the 16:9? if so, do yards still charge a ton for those parts, so spending the time/effort to do the search would not pay off in the end?

looking to install nav in my 04 X5.

thanks for any info.

Not going to be an easy find, but it certainly is possible. Assuming the interior has been fairly well protected, the parts should work.

Most yards won't have a clue of their worth, so you may get quite a deal if you can find one.

You might want to give the guys at Vines Automotive a call. They are a "BMW only" salvage yard. They are in Alabama. 800-214-4839 ask for Dave. GL

if the are BMW only yard, then they'll know the value of the screens and the drives.

Yes but you should still be able to save $$$. You have nothing to lose by giving them a call.

oh no, not one bit. i'm just saying, those who know ask for a pretty penny. those that don't will usually slap it on ebay and be shocked as to how much they can get for it.

Good luck to the OP! if you get nav, get MKIV or nothing. i really hope you are really crafty and willing to tear apart your interior. someone on bimmerfest in the E39 board did a OEM install (his screen name is KING). let me tell ya... doesn't look like a one day deal unless you've done it several times before.
