Anything that I can try to get it going? I paid close to 600 on ebay.

hmmm, I'm not sure that MkIV is compatible with the X5. If you look up that part on realoem it shows as the nav drive for the Z4 and X3 nav retrofit kits. If it was compatible with the e38, e39, e46 and e53 then it should show that. See http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref....+908&showus=on

I suspect that the nav drive may not be defective, rather it's just not the right unit for your application. If so then you'll need to pick up one that is.

It might be true!

You might be correct. Wondering if anyone retrofit this mk4 in there x5.
I have to find someone with an X3 to make sure that is the problem. If it is then we can take it off the list that is on this forum with the part numbers for the mk4 and make everyone aware of it. I will get a new thread going in regards to this.
Thanks a lot and by the way, when I tried the mk3 in my x5 I also setup my radio and it works. Thanks for that because I was ver close returning that to Vaheh for en exchange.

The standard MkIV from an X3 that came from the factory with nav works in an X5. I'm thinking that this may be somehow different since it is part of the nav retrofit kit

For example, do a realoem search on MkIV part number 65 90 6 971 809 and you will see that it pertains to both the X3 and the X5 - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref....+809&showus=on

I have the american version of x5 standard w/o nav nor premium sound. I see
an info about retrofit nav with part no. 65 90 0 136 497 but it only refers
to the Euro version. Can I install it in my american version of X5?

hold on, before you determine the screen is bad you might want to check a few things. First, is this X5 a 3.0? or better? If its a 3.0 did you hookup the two wires to the cluster? How about the connection to the LCM.

I've have problems with the screen not coming to life when I did my retrofit on my 3.0 when using the low cluster. Forgot what the remedy was but it had something to do with those 3 wires.

Hi,

you can put every MK4 in your X5, as long as he is coded for a Monitor,
4:3 or 16:9.

If your MK unit takes the software cd and works like he should, but you see nothing on your Monitor screen, he is coded for Radio Navigation.
