Need help updating MkIII- Won't let me press OK
I'm at a loss- I used Memorex CD-R, which seems to work for people. I've tried going back to an old OS version, then coming back to a new one, and it's the same symptoms every time. Even going up to V32, which I've read works for many people doesn't do anything. I can try another brand disc if this is a symptom of that. Edit: I tried using slysoft clonecd and imgburn. With imgburn I was able to verify that I burned in Mode 2 Form 1. I burned at alternately 1x and 4x with no change in functionality. I still get the same issues after I did this. I realize this problem is similar to other posts, but mine's the only one I can find where it says the load took but I can't press OK. Any ideas? Last edited by falcotim; 10-23-2011 at 04:58 PM. |

What was the SW version you had before? V17 or smaller. If yes you need the key-CD to activate the spitscreen option.

I'm not sure what the previous version was because it had issues when I got it. It was the blank screen with the white bar across the bottom. At what point would I insert the key cd with this issue? Directly after the OS cd auto ejects? Or when it reboots and gets frozen on -BMW-. It doesn't prompt me for anything.

usually he will be asked to asked to insert the key-CD after the OS cd auto ejects before the system reboots.

That's what I thought. It doesn't prompt me to put the key cd in. Everything seems to work, but then again it doesn't work. The issue is not indicative of anything that I've found on this or any other forum... I'm getting frustrated to no end. I'll try burning everything again on some different disks, but other than that I don't know what to do.

Your os/9 boot rom is corrupted or you have a RAM fault. There is very little that can be done by way of "home remedies" in these cases.

Thanks. I figured I'd have to scrap it. I'll just use it for parts down the road, methinks. I don't suppose I could use any of what you are talking about from a MKII system, could I? And are those issues fixable in similar ways to fixing the flash memory? I'm close to just picking up a MKIV, but I'd like to use that as a true last resort. With the MKII, I don't have any nav, but OBC and the radio work.

Your Mk2 seems to have a disc drive fault which will deactive GPS (no map). If the Mk2 is hardware version 20 or above, it will have the same type of cd rom drive as a mk3. So that way it should be possible to make up one working mk2 system.

Is the GPS receiver internal in the MKII? I thought that it was external in a fashion that I'd have to get some more parts to make it work because it doesn't have the antenna connector on the back?

Mk2 has external GPS receiver.
