Is it possible to unlock the s/w updating on Rover Mk 3 Nav units?
It's well-known that updating the Nav Software on Rover 75 Mk 3 Nav units is known to be hit-or-miss, and most usually miss, as I found with the one I repaired for my friend!!! 1) Will the "BMW Key Disk" release the software lock, and if so can anyone point me in the direction of instructions on this Forum please? 2) Can V32 software be used if the unit is unlocked? 3) Will NavCoder do it? What extra Navigation Features are present in the BMW Software compared with Rover's? Whilst repairing the nav unit, I found a small sticky-up plugin PCB just behind the front panel with the micro and a couple of smaller ICs on it, is this small PCB where the Nav Software is loaded into, and if I was to erase the flash chips with some sort of programmer device or fit blank replacements, would the unit then accept a reflash using a BMW System Installation CD? Sorry for the awkward questions, I've only just got my Friend's nav working and naturally he'd like something more comprehensive than Rover's basic nonsense, and I'm only a new member here as I only discovered this forum last night and it's a very large one!!! Many thanks, Chris Williams Last edited by Chris56000; 08-03-2012 at 04:11 PM. |

I dont think that the rover units are updateable mate, you need the mk3 or mk4 from the bmw.
