MKIV splash screen rarely shows (stock firmware)

So when I bought my X3, someone had taken the MKIV unit and just thrown in an MKIII.. So I bought a used MKIV unit and everything works except two weird issues.

1. The Splash Screen rarely shows up. For the most part, when you start the car, it goes right into the warning message.
2. When someone calls my phone (connected via Bluetooth), instead of the incoming call screen that I've seen in other cars, it says the word "speed-dial" with the number calling me next to it or below it (I forget) but that's all that's on the screen. Sometimes I see the screen flicker and the correct call screen shows up for a split second.

Disclaimer: the behavior has not changed AT ALL whether I installed a custom firmware with nightmode and splashscreen edit fom bmwnav.net or had the dealership reload the factory firmware. Not sure if it's v31 or v32, but its 4-1/00.

Please help, I don't want to buy another MKVI unit if I don't have to. Thanks!
