Anyone Interested in Grey Instrument Panel Gauges mod for $40? Group Buy?

Hi All,
Inspired by FeelGoodUn's retrofit of a 04+ grey-gauge instrument panel (with mixed results) this week:
Apparently there are shops online that can fabricate gray-dial, night-illuminated gauge dials for the instrument panel... A quick search of the web led to FleaBay mostly, though a few custom gauge shops sell through other channels. The finished product could be like the later model 4.4+'s, with grey dials with white lines, and illuminating oem orange with other color accents at night. Here's a pic (day & night views) for e36 models priced at $38, essentially plug & play I believe:

Anyone interested? There's nothing current for our X's (or the e39s with the same panel essentially), but apparently any layout can be done- the shop just needs to know the specs for various panel options (mileage & rpm min/max's and various indicator layouts. Maybe this could be the start of a group-buy effort to have them made (since it'd cross over to the e39s, any company making em should see a solid profit).

That looks hot!!! The tricky part should be removing the needles and putting them back...

I have worked with clusters, taken a few apart and I can tell you it is extremely difficult to install these. extremely difficult. But I'm down if someone knows how to install these. btw I know how to cure the pixel problem, the E38 directions on how to fix the pixels are crap.

Thanks all! I'd like to talk to folks who've completed this install too! It may be a tough DIY, so I'm editing out the "plug-n-play?" in my initial message since that doesn't appear to be the case. From one vendor:
"PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

However, at that price, the install is going to be the only major cost. I think it'd be worth a bit of effort cause the finished product is sweeet. ;)
Feel free to share your interests or experiences with this kin of mod!

I must be getting old. At one time, "PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" meant "BY ALL MEANS, TRY THIS AT HOME" and "YOU SUCK AS A MECHANIC IF YOU CAN"T DO THIS."

I've got a couple of clusters I need to fix lying around my house, after I've fixed these and sold them on ebay, I will do a write up on how to fix the pixel problem.
